During the April 22 edition of Unitary Foundation Quantum Wednesday, Tim Vroomans, PhD candidate at QuTech in the research group of Leonardo DiCarlo, will give a presentation titled Using OrangeQS Juice to enable free quantum processor access through Quantum Inspire.
Presentation abstract
Quantum Inspire (QI) facilitates free access to quantum processors. QuTech provides two superconducting processors, Tuna-5 and Tuna-9. These processors use transmon qubits and tunable transmoncouplers to mediate qubit-qubit interactions. QI does not control these backends directly, therefore the maintainer of a processor needs to interpret the messages coming in from QI and return the correct responses.
In this presentation, it will be shown how the open-source framework OrangeQS Juice is used to do this, while also enabling interesting features such as automatic recalibration and multi-user access to a quantum processor in a lab setting.

The talk was kicked off by Dianto Bosman, support engineer at OrangeQS, with a brief introduction into Juice and the OrangeQS Suite. Tim Vroomans then dives into the full-stack setup behind the Quantum Inspire quantum computing demonstrator, the integration of software and hardware layers and stability experiments as an example application.
About Tim Vroomans
Tim Vroomans is a PhD candidate at QuTech, working in the research group of Leonardo DiCarlo. He obtained his master’s degree in 2022 after completing his thesis in the same group, as well as an internship at Orange Quantum Systems. His research focuses on integrating software with room‑temperature instrumentation to enable faster and more efficient recalibration of superconducting quantum processors. Tim is also a winner of the 2026 Oranje Quantum Catalyst Award, a Quantum Delta NL ecosystem award celebrating early career scientists or engineers who accelerate innovation in quantum technology by connecting academic excellence with industrial relevance.
