Five years of quantum chip testing at OrangeQS

15-09-2025

This month we celebrated our fifth birthday at OrangeQS. A great moment to thank our team, investors, customers and ecosystem. In a new video by TNO (in Dutch) Garrelt Alberts, Managing Director at OrangeQS, explains why we chose our unique position in the quantum computing value chain and how we can expect the quantum chip industry to evolve.

The fifth birthday of OrangeQS is a great moment to thank people and organizations that made our journey possible – from TNO spin-off to leader in test solutions for quantum chips.

Our team has grown from five founders to over thirty people. We’re proud of the dynamic and diverse group of experts, embodying our core values of Mastery, Adaptability, Teamwork and Honesty. The exponential development roadmap for faster quantum chip test solutions will be challenging, but the OrangeQS team is well equipped to become a global leader in the field.

“Our customers are our best partners”, co-founder Amber mentioned in a video by Innovation Quarter. As a customer-driven company, we have worked with customers and partners in academia and industry to develop and several products over the years. These products now fit in two product lines, namely OrangeQS MAX with full-stack test equipment for industry, and OrangeQS FLEX with building blocks for quantum R&D setups. Let’s highlight a few:

  • OrangeQS MAX: A machine for industrial quantum chip builders to test their utility-scale quantum chips.
  • OrangeQS Juice: A new operating system to control and monitor a quantum R&D lab, currently in closed beta preparing for an open-source release.
  • Superconducting Qubit Tools (SCQT): A well-documented library of advanced diagnostics protocols, with tools for reporting and analysis.

Our investors make it possible for us to become the global leader in quantum chip testing. They provide insights, connections and access to the resources required to build best-in-class industry-level quantum chip test equipment. As a great validation of our unique business case in the quantum ecosystem, we have multiple VCs on board, next to institutional investors. We are grateful for your continued support Icecat Capital, Cottonwood Technology Fund, Qbeat Ventures, QDNL Participations and InnovationQuarter Capital!

Finally, we wouldn’t have succeeded without our supportive quantum ecosystem in Delft, The Netherlands and Europe. Although the quantum industry is a global ecosystem, it has helped immensely to work closely with local suppliers, partners and customers. We are also grateful for the support of several regional, national and European funding programs, resulting in many interesting projects. Highlighting a few:

  • PAC-QC (Funding: Holland High Tech): Our second project with the Dicarlo Lab at QuTech, accelerating quantum chip testing with automation and parallelization.
  • HectoQubit/2 (Funding: Quantum Delta NL): Supporting the roadmap for a hectoqubit-scale quantum computer in Delft.
  • HTQC-Diagnostics (Funding: EIC Accelerator): Developing the OrangeQS MAX to support the emerging quantum chip industry with its transition from lab to fab.
