We are thrilled to announce that OrangeQS Juice has been successfully deployed at the Advanced Quantum Testbed (AQT) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), in Berkeley, California. Our team recently visited the laboratory to assist with system setup and configuration, ensuring a smooth integration into AQT’s quantum research environment.

The Advanced Quantum Testbed (AQT) is a state-of-the-art superconducting platform at Berkeley Lab designed to accelerate full-stack quantum computing research. About OrangeQS Juice
OrangeQS Juice is a Linux-based, open-source operating system specifically designed for quantum research and development labs. OrangeQS Juice runs a JupyterHub instance on the lab’s control computer, providing access to multiple shared Python kernels for collaborative work and experiment management.
OrangeQS Juice was developed as an operating system for the high-throughput OrangeQS MAX quantum chip test equipment. It is now an essential building block of our OrangeQS FLEX systems for quantum R&D labs.
In addition to its deployment at AQT, OrangeQS Juice is scheduled for deployment at QuTech and the University of Cologne as part of a closed beta program. The open-source OS was already installed at Chalmers Next Labs. These deployments will support the planned open-source release of OrangeQS Juice in early 2026.
OrangeQS Juice at AQT
A basic qubit calibration has been demonstrated on a 20 qubit IQM chip using Qubic boards with a Quantify backend, covering both single board and multi board setups. This currently operates on a demo backend rather than a fully implemented system.
AQT is likely to install their in-house software package as a dependency of OrangeQS Juice. SCQT and GRACE are integrated for potential future use. This approach complements their continued use of an established in-house software environment.
One topic discussed with the AQT team was data management. The OrangeQS Juice operating system is designed to make key information available in one place, providing a unified dashboard that improves visibility, enables faster insight into system performance, reduces switching between tools, and supports more efficient troubleshooting and decision making. This approach to data presentation may be relevant for AQT use cases, particularly for analysis, comparison, and long-term tracking of system performance across experiments.
