Within the European project OpenSuperQPlus, we support the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in building a test bench for few-qubit QPU testing. Part of this test bench is an OrangeQS Rack, which was delivered in November to KIT. This delivery follows a similar OrangeQS Rack delivery to Aalto University this summer.

OrangeQS delivered an OrangeQS Rack to Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), as part of their few-qubit OpenSuperQPlus test bench. This test bench is operated by the Black Forest Quantum research group of prof. Ioan Pop, which is part of the Institute of Quantum Materials and Technologies at KIT.
The delivery team tested the installed quantum chip up to qubit spectroscopy in less than a day, including hardware assembly and measurements. This short setup and fast testing was possible because the Black Forest Quantum Lab had meticulously prepared the lab space, fridge and chip in advance. After installation of the OrangeQS Rack a demonstration took place of our Superconducting Qubit Tools, a library of test protocols, and GRACE, a Graph-based Automated Calibration Execution, both part of our OrangeQS FLEX Systems.
The OpenSuperQPlus project is the largest and most ambitious European collaborative project in building 100-qubit quantum computers. This project involves 28 partners from 10 countries. OrangeQS supports its partners with setting up test benches for QPUs by providing OrangeQS Racks for qubit diagnostics. These test benches allow our partners to gain experience in operating few-qubit systems, as a step towards the 100-qubit demonstrators.
This delivery comes after a similar OrangeQS Rack delivery to Aalto University, who also hosts an OpenSuperQPlus test bench for QPU characterization. A key requirement for both of these OrangeQS Racks was a LabOneQ back-end for Quantify. Read more about the development of this new backend for Quantify in this news item.
